US News & World Report, talks about how Real Estate Agents must change to met the expectations of this new tech-savvy generation:
- Millennials prefer texting (and sometimes emailing) to other forms of communication.
- They search for homes on their phones.
- They want to know what is going on at any time in the home-buying process.
- They want quick answers to questions and expect valid information.
- Millennials prefer to use phone apps like Redfin to search for homes and view listings.
- They want to see testimonials on the agent’s website, and read online reviews.
- They expect agents to engage them in social media. They want to do more than just read re-posted articles.
- They are very comfortable with sharing personal information to facilitate the home-buying process.
- Younger buyers sometimes don’t know what features in a house can be changed with minimal cost. This is an opportunity for agents to educate and recommend contractors and vendors.
- Many millennials find home prices challenging, but they are meeting the challenge by seeking homes with rental units, or renting through Airbnb, etc.
